Interested in ice-skating in Sweden? Together with our friends at BEAT Expeditions and local guide Christian, we’re offering the ultimate weekend in Falun. A place where winter is still truly winter. To take advantage of these conditions, we've set out to create your ideal ice-skating expedition. Think: fika, ice fishing, sauna, husky sledding, cross country skiing, etc. We organise three to four long weekends around February, just when the ice is at it's best.

THE BROCHURE

Swedish cottages in the snow
Day 1

After arriving at Stockholm Arlanda airport, a rental car will be waiting for you at Sixt Arlanda. You will drive to the city of Falun, where we will welcome you in your pitoresque red Swedish cottage. After the check-in, we will recommend our favourite local restaurants and provide you with a short introduction of the location, your breakfast and snacks for the coming days.

Day 2

Our first day on the ice! At 09:00, guide Christian will introduce himself, his team and the area. We will then rent our material (if needed) and make sure everybody understands the risks and challenges of skating on natural ice. During the first day, we offer the option to join an ice fishing session.

After our first day on the ice, you are invited to enjoy a sauna at the lake and take a fresh dive into a hole in the ice.

Day 3

After waking up early, you get ready the for day two. We will start just in front of our cottage and our guides will take us to the unbeaten tracks. Depending on the weather, we will enjoy a typical Swedish (warm) outdoor lunch on an island, after which you can choose to join the dogsledding, an introduction to cross-country skiing or keep on skating.

Day 4

Our last day of the weekend. After checking out, we will enjoy one more morning of ice skating with our team and guides. During this session, you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the lake one more time, after which we take our bags and go to Stockholm to catch the flights. Depending on the schedule, we can introduce you the Swedish Fika in Stockholm.

General informatiON

Travel period

We organize this weekend four times a year, usually around the month of February. The weekends for 2026 have already passed. As soon as the dates for 2027 are confirmed, we will list them here!

Already interested? Feel free to let us know! We can keep you updated and perhaps even reserve a spot for you in advance. Send us a message via the interest button below.

Travel group

This trip is for everyone. Some people come on their own, others with their father, mother, brother, sister or (a group of) friends. Each weekend we have a maximum of 15 participants, but the composition of the group varies every time.

During the skating we often split the group based on level. The rest of the weekend is largely up to you. Would you like to go out for dinner with the group? Then we’ll arrange it. Prefer to do your own thing or head out with your own friends? That’s perfectly fine too!

We think it’s important that these weekends are accessible to everyone. All you need is a sporty mindset and a dose of enthusiasm. We work with experienced guides who are happy to take you on longer tours, but are just as happy to teach beginners the first tricks of the trade.

Transport

The weekend takes place in Falun, about a three-hour drive from Stockholm. Most travelers fly to Stockholm, where we arrange a rental car for you from the airport. You’ll use the car during the weekend and return it on Sunday before your return flight.

Are you already in Sweden or would you prefer to travel in another way? Let us know and we’ll be happy to think along with you about the possibilities!
