Arrival in the City | Day 1 – 4

Your journey begins in the lively city of Gothenburg, the gateway to Sweden’s west coast. You will stay here for three nights in a vibrant family hotel, giving you plenty of time to explore the city. The hotel is located right next to Scandinavia’s largest amusement park. With beautiful park gardens and plenty of attractions for children, it’s the perfect start to the holiday.

Gothenburg has much more to offer as well: charming historic neighbourhoods, boat trips into the archipelago, sunny parks and museums where children can have a great time. The Swedish Forests | Day 4 – 7

After the city, you continue your journey into the Swedish countryside. Hidden in the forests of the Småland region, a wonderful place awaits you. It might even feel a little familiar, and that makes sense. Children’s author Astrid Lindgren grew up here and found much of her inspiration in this landscape.

You'll stay at a very special accommodation: a luxurious design treehouse, floating amongst the trees. On the first evening, a dinner will be served at the accommodation’s restaurant. Step straight into the forest, swim in the lake and perhaps even spot a moose. Or explore the stories of Pippi Longstocking in Astrid Lindgren’s famous theme park and discover Småland’s glassblowing tradition.

A Swedish Island | Day 7 – 13

The final part of your journey takes place on an idyllic island on Sweden’s west coast. Here you will spend six nights surrounded by granite rocks, the sea and small harbours that are so characteristic of the Bohuslän archipelago. Days are filled with swimming, kayaking, walking along the rocks and enjoying the long Scandinavian summer evenings.

You will stay in a comfortable cottage with your own garden, although it will soon feel as if the entire island is your backyard. Children quickly find their own adventures here: catching crabs, playing mini golf and exploring nature. The holiday feeling starts the moment you arrive: park your car on the mainland and take a small ferry to the island. The perfect place to end your journey in complete relaxation.

Our recommended travel period for this holiday runs from early May to mid-August.

This trip can also be requested outside this period. Depending on your travel dates, alternative options or adjustments may be suggested.

Travel party

This trip is recommended for families, but can also be booked by solo travelers or couples.

After submitting a request, we will review the travel party and dates you provided. Based on this, you will receive a personalised travel proposal with the corresponding costs.

Transport

This trip can be done by private car or rental car.

Private car
Drive yourself via the Øresund Bridge to Sweden. Alternatively, a one-way or round-trip ferry with Stena Line between Kiel and Gothenburg can be added.

Rental car
Book your own return flight to and from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport. Travel.se arranges a rental car for you from arrival to departure at the airport.

How do I book this trip?

Fill in the form to request this trip. Within 3 days, we will contact you with a detailed itinerary, including a specified price for your travel party. At the same time, we will provisionally hold all bookings for you.

Once you receive the itinerary, you have 1 week to confirm the trip. Only after your confirmation will the booking be final and all reservations officially secured.

What are the payment and cancellation terms?

Once we have sent you the detailed itinerary, it is up to you to confirm the booking. At the time of booking, a deposit of 25% of the total price is required, to be paid within five days of making the booking. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 30 days before departure, unless otherwise stated in the booking confirmation. For bookings made within 45 days of departure, the full amount must be paid immediately.

You always have the right to cancel the trip. Cancellation may incur costs depending on the timing:

  • More than 45 days before departure: 25% of the price (deposit)

  • 45–31 days before departure: 50% of the price

  • 30–0 days before departure: 100% of the price

How do I travel to Sweden?

At Travel.se, your trip begins the moment you arrive in Sweden, which means transport to Sweden is not included. There are several ways to travel to Sweden, depending on your departure location. You can find more details about the options for this trip in the general information section.

Flights are never booked by Travel.se. Rental cars and ferry crossings, however, are arranged by us.
