Swedish ice skating experience

Discover the real winter

3

days

Skating on natural ice is no longer a given in the Netherlands. In Sweden, fortunately, it still is! That's why Travel.se, in collaboration with BEAT Expeditions, offers three long weekends of winter adventure in Sweden.

Together with a highly experienced local guide, you'll step onto frozen lakes and skate through some of the most stunning landscapes. But the Swedish winter has much more to offer. That’s why we’ve put together a complete trip with everything you could wish for for your winter adventure. Dog sledding, ice fishing, snowshoe trekking, cooking over an open fire and, of course, a visit to the sauna!

Day 1

Yesterday you travelled to Sweden and arrived at your accommodation. Today the winter adventure really begins! After a filling breakfast, we'll introduce our local guide to you. We'll rent the equipment and leave for the ice. Once your skates are on, the guide will explain everything about safety, technique and the unique environment. The first magical skating tour begins! A well deserved lunch will be prepared at the ice and eaten together. The day will be ended in style, with a dinner served in a restaurant in Falun.

Day 2

Fill up your energy with a big breakfast and get ready for another day of skating! Today will be a shorter tour, which ends with lunch. The lake offers more than just skating, so after lunch it is time for something new: ice fishing. Later that afternoon, a guide will take you on a snowshoe hike to a beautiful place for an outdoor cooking expierence. Local products (and maybe even the fish you caught!) will be prepared on an open fire and eaten together.

Day 3

The third morning starts in a true Swedish fashion, a visit to the panorama sauna, followed by a refreshing dip in the lake. After that it is time for a well deserved breakfast. Your legs get some rest from all the ice skating, as it's time for the husky dog sledding tour. While sledding through the snow, you will explore the beautiful Swedish nature in a completely different way. Upon return, it's time to check out and travel back to Stockholm.

How do I travel to Sweden and what is the destination of the trip?

With Travel.se, the trip starts the moment you arrive in Sweden, which means that transport to Sweden is not provided by us. There are several ways to travel to Sweden, depending on where you are coming from. For this trip, we recommend you to fly to Stockholm. From there transport to the accommodation is organised.

This trip takes place in Dalarna, in the heart of Sweden. The lakes around the city of Falun turn into idyllic ice rinks in winter. This combined with the great accessibility of this place (2.5 hours from Stockholm) makes it the ideal location for this winter trip.

Who is this trip meant for?

This trip is for anyone who enjoys winter activities. Both beginners and advanced skaters are welcome to join. There is room for a maximum of 18 people per weekend. We apply a minimum age of 14 years.

Private trips on other dates may be possible on request. Ask us about the possibilities.
